October 27, 2008

Just a warning, this blog post is likely to be a long one.
Back in February I started a blog to keep people updated in my life. I had intentions of updating it daily, at least once a week. But after the first post I just kind of forgot about it. I don't even remember my login information to access it. So I guess that blog is gone forever, and this one will be here to replace it.
Since February I've accomplished so much. It's hard to believe it's only been eight months. Only that short period of time has passed. I feel I've seen the world, yet there's so much I haven't seen. So much I haven't experienced. I feel very lucky to be who I am and have done what I've done. Not many people my age get this chance. And there's sooooooo much more I want to do.
March 5, 2008 was the official beginning of my new life. On that day I arrived at Charlotte-Douglas Airport and flew to Denver, CO to meet my dad. We stayed in Denver for about a month. And honestly, I hated it there. It might have been because I was stuck at some RV park in the slumps. It might have been because the mile high city actually made me sick. Or it might have been because even though it was March they were still getting a lot of snow and it was freezing cold and I was missing my favorite time of the year, when seasons started to change from winter to spring. And you can just feel the weather getting warmer. But this year I missed that. I didn't even make any friends while I was in Denver. So really I was quite lousy.
After about two months I finally convinced my dad that we needed to get over to Missouri. The day we finally left was a miserable one. A bad storm was coming in so the roads were wet and it was mighty windy as we drove along the highway. Kind of scary to feel the rv shaking behind us with each gust of wind. We finally stopped at a hotel overnight and when we woke up the next morning it was snowing and conditions were much worst than before. Yet my dad decided that he wanted to keep going so we left and continued the drive. I remember the fog being so bad that we could barely see the cars in front of us and just looking out the window and seeing white on the side of the road. About an hour after we crossed the Kansas state line it stopped snowing and the day finally looked nice.
Then we finally got to Missouri. It was right after those mid-west floods so all along the highway was overflowing with water. Parts of towns were completely underwater. It was so surreal. We stopped in a little town just outside Joplin, Missouri for two weeks. There was a concert there that I had to go to because I missed them in Charlotte. It was The Audition with Every Avenue, The Morning Light, Kiros, and Hit The Lights. I ended up going to a show before that actually. It was with A Day To Remember and a few local hardcore bands from that area who were actually really good. But my favorite memory was seeing The Audition again, it was my third time in two years, and they always put on a great live show. I also was completely blown away by the other bands and I suggest that you check them out if you ever get a chance.
A few days after the concert my dad and me packed our rv up and headed out again. This time to Springfield, MO. We stayed there about a week but the place my dad was interested in going to was an hour away and he finally found an RV park there so we packed up yet again and moved to Ava, MO. I do like this little town. I actually made a few friends while I was there. And we actually had a visitor that would like to come almost every night. We suspect it was a cougar/panther/whatever you like to call it. But there were hugeee pawprints all around our rv.
After about two weeks in Ava we had to drive back to Joplin so I could catch a plane back to Charlotte in time to take my SATs. Because I missed my original date to take the SAT's in March before I left because I had a bad reaction to my sleeping pills the night before. A few days after the SAT I went and saw Radiohead. That was a very interesting night but it was fun. I feel like I went to another concert while I was there but I honestly can't remember. I was only in town for less than two weeks then I had to fly back to Joplin/Ava, MO to take care of my dad again. We stayed in Ava for about another month before we finally decided it was time to go home and started packing up. Then we started our 3-day trek back to South Carolina.
When I got home I went to a local bands show. I'm not a fan of their music at all but I still support them. Then on July 4th I got to see Cute Is What We Aim For, Ace Enders(<333), Powerspace, and Danger Radio. Then on July 8th I had to drive down to Florida with my dad. It was for a family emergency. And I ended up having to skip my birthday bash I had planned and my special present/vacation to go to Warped Tour in Atlanta.
But the trip down to Florida was worth it. I got to see old friends and make new ones. And I finally got to see a local band live down there, Starlight Getaway, check them out! I've actually went to school with half of the guys so thats how I know them. After a month there I had to fly back up to Charlotte to make it in time for my friends wedding since I was a bridesmaid. After a week back here in Charlotte I had to fly back to Florida because my dad was still down there and Tropical Storm Fay was about to hit. I only was there for about a week. We had to wait til it was done raining and the ground was dry before we could pack up and leave.
And since then I've been back here in the Carolinas just hanging out with friends and going to concerts whenever I get the chance. I would type more about the concerts but I'm afraid this is already getting too long. Maybe another time...
